Georgetown County, SC is seeking a Manager for the Environmental Services Division. The individual is responsible for providing a systematic approach to an integrated solid waste management for Georgetown County, including but not limited to waste reduction, collection, recycling, and disposal systems.  Primary responsibility is to reduce, reuse, recycle, and manage waste to protect human health and the natural environment. The Manager reports to the Director of Public Services.




Charleston County, SC is seeking a Program Manager for the Environmental Management Department. Position # SW20343.

This position is responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of the residential, commercial, institutional, recreational and construction sector recycling programs. You will provide leadership for sustainable practice efforts throughout the County to waste generators, other local governments and within our own government to assist with implementing the County’s comprehensive recycling and solid waste management plan while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and legislation. This position develops and manages environmental strategies, budgets, policies and programs that foster countywide sustainable behavior and conservation actions in the areas of: source reduction, reuse, composting, recycling hazardous and special waste and buying recycled/Environmentally Preferred Practices (EPP). This position will provide outreach and education to residential and commercial recycling customers. Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Environmental Sciences, Public Administration or related field, supplemented with three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience with a minimum of two (2) years supervisory or managerial experience. Must have ability to deal with conflict situation in a judicious and tactful manner; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including public speaking, and preparation of written reports and grant applications. Environmental / Solid Waste EIT


HDR is seeking a Solid Waste EIT for our Charlotte, NC office. The primary duties of this position include all aspects of engineering for solid waste facilities including landfills and waste transfer stations with an emphasis on system planning, engineering analysis, cost estimating, design, design reviews/construction management and specification preparation. The specific duties may involve development of innovative techniques to maximize air space in landfills, landfill gas (LFG) generation and design, LFG management system design, erosion and sediment control structures, stormwater modeling and design, line of site analyses, perform engineering analysis and calculations to support landfill permitting and permit compliance, landfill expansion design, facility arrangements and design, feasibility studies, development of construction drawings and technical specifications and construction observation and management.


Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field required Interest or some experience designing facilities, grading and drainage and civil engineering, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation experience, Microsoft Office experience, Must be able to work in a team environment.

Environmental / Solid Waste Engineer


HDR is looking for an Environmental/Solid Waste Engineer for our Charlotte or Raleigh, NC offices. The primary duties of this position include all aspects of engineering for solid waste facilities including landfills and waste transfer stations with an emphasis on system planning, engineering analysis, cost estimating, design, design reviews/construction management and specification preparation. The specific duties involve performing engineering analysis and design to support landfill permitting and permit compliance, landfill and solid waste facility development expansion design and feasibility studies. They may function as a technical specialist or project manager on small to mid-size projects.


Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Civil, Geotechnical or Environmental Engineering required

3-10+ years experience with some level of permitting, design, and construction support


Preferred Qualifications:

PE preferred

Project Management skills are a plus

Local candidates are preferred
