SC SWANA Committees

The following Committees have been created to further advance the practice of environmentally and economically sound management of municipal solid waste in South Carolina.

Technical Committee

The Technical Committee has been established to guide the Chapter in the development of training programs, assisting in discussions with regulatory agencies, and keeping the Chapter up to date on issues affecting our members.  Please contact Ed Hood at edward.hood@shawgrp.com or Philip Westmorland Philip.westmoreland@hdrinc.com with any questions you may have on the Technical Committee.

Legistative Committee

The Legislative Committee has been established to help keep the membership informed of legislative developments affecting our industry and also to coordinate any input from the Chapter on legislative matters.  If you have any questions or believe the Chapter should become involved in a particular legislative issue, please contact Art Braswell at abraswell@sc.rr.com .

Membership Commitee

The Membership Committee has been established to recruit and retain SWANA members in the SC Palmetto Chapter.  If you have any questions regarding membership in SWANA, please contact Fred West at fwest@wbcci.com or Deborah Langley at dlangley@joyceengineering.com.

Newsletter / Website Committee – This Committee has been established to provide communication to the membership.  If you are interested in helping with this effort, please contact Fred Sebesta at fred.sebesta@aecom.com .

Recycling Committee

The Recycling Committee has been established to promote recycling activities within the Chapter and coordinate recycling initiatives with other organizations.  If you are interested in being a part of the Recycling Committee, please contact Tonya Lott at tlott@commerce.state.sc.us .

Scholarship & Awards Committee

The Scholarship and Awards Committee has been established to recognize outstanding achievement in the solid waste profession.  If you have know of someone deserving of recognition, or would like more information regarding our scholarship program, please contact Russ Hightower at rhighto1@wm.com.
